4/20 LEADERSHIP APPLICATIONS CLOSE @ 11:59PM

If you are interested in joining our leadership team please apply below. Late applications will not be considered. All students who have marched at least one season are eligible and encouraged to apply. Please note that this form requires some parent signatures as well, it is crucial that students and parents look it over together. Though this application is your way of officially indicating to us you are interested, your audition for leadership began the moment you joined our program and continues every day. If you are unsure but think you want to, we highly encourage you go out for it!! The sooner you start the process, the more you'll be able to learn about leadership at CW and be more prepared for future seasons!

All student leaders from the 2025 season who wish to continue on the leadership team, MUST RE-APPLY. There is no "fixed" set of section leads//captains//DMs, our goal every year is to create the ideal team to put our band in a position to succeed. Reach out to the 2025 leadership team and ask them about their responsibilities and experience to help see if it would be a good fit for you!

REGISTRATION MEETING 7:30 - 8:30 PM

We will be having our 2026 Registration meeting from 7:30 - 8:30 in the Clovis West Band Room. It is extremely important that ALL families of students who will be participating in the 2026 CW Marching Band & Concert Bands for the first time attend (transfer students who are new to our program and incoming 9th grade families). We will be discussing critical summer dates, the fall schedule, band registration, uniform fittings, and course requirement/academic schedule changes. At the conclusion of this meeting we will head out to the track field to watch the students' final practice run of the parade and then they will be dismissed to you from there!

4/24 RALLY:

Students will be excused from their 4th period class. Report to band room at the beginning of 4th Period.

General Parent Meeting June 7th

Please come join us for a general parent meeting this June 7th. Our Parent board will share information about the previous year as well as discuss plans for the upcoming school year. We hit the ground running as early as the week after school with hospitality providing marching band students dinner on June 13th, 14th and 15th. If you are looking for ways to become more involved with the program, or are new to our program and want to meet other instrumental music parents, this is a great opportunity to do so! The meeting starts Wednesday at 7pm in the Clovis West Band Room.

Disneyland Trip June 10

Disneyland group signups will begin tomorrow at Clovis West and Monday at Kastner. The full attendee list has been emailed to all who are attending, as well as a lot of information to review prior to the trip. We will be sending final details soon but the itinerary is the same as we have printed on the trip form. If you are attending please do not be late Saturday morning.

If you did not sign up for the Disneyland trip but would like to attend, there is a limited quantity of available spots on this trip. Contact Mr. Chesi directly at bryanchesi@cusd.com if you are interested but not currently on the trip.

Chaperones, as we emailed prior, we will be meeting Thursday Evening June 8th at 7pm to review responsibilities for the trip. Please plan on attending.

Chocolate Bar Fundraiser Still Active! 

There are still multiple chocolate bar boxes available to check out and sell! Each box can be sold for $60 ($1 per chocolate bar). For each box sold, $15 will be allocated toward trip credit. This is a great way to build trip credit for Disneyland trip payments or upcoming travel in the 2023-2024 school year.

If you weren’t able to attend the event last night, we also announced our fall marching band show “All the Lonely People,” featuring music from the Beatles. We also shared information regarding summer and fall schedules. Our slideshow with that information can be viewed via this link.

In preparation for the upcoming year, we are asking all marching band participants to attend summer rehearsals. Attendance is expected from everyone! If you cannot attend a rehearsal, please inform a director and your section staff members as soon as possible!

As a current parent or 8th grade student you are now receiving our Clovis West Instrumental Music Weekly notes. This is a weekly email sent to all instrumental music families to keep you updated and informed on the goings on of the Clovis West Instrumental Music Program. Katner Instrumental Music Family Bingo Night

Join us Friday (tomorrow) May 19 in the Kastner MPR for a fun, Family Bingo night that benefits Kastner instrumental music! There will be food trucks, fun games, and fabulous prizes. See you there!

Disneyland Trip June 10

Disneyland trip details are being finalized. If you signed up for this trip and were told you or your student was added, we have secured your tickets as that process happened back in February. Please make sure you are paid in full, and if you want to use trip credit you communicate how much you want to use for this trip. If you were contacted about chaperoning we are planning on your participation. Again, sorry for the delays.

If you are interested in going on this trip, did not register, and want to be added to the waitlist, contact Mr. Chesi. If you had troubles with charms try again - there have been some adjustments last and this week, and If you have any other questions or need assistance don’t hesitate to contact a director.

Chocolate Bar Fundraiser Still Active! 

There are still multiple chocolate bar boxes available to check out and sell! Each box can be sold for $60 ($1 per chocolate bar). For each box sold, $15 will be allocated toward trip credit. This is a great way to build trip credit for Disneyland trip payments or upcoming travel in the 2023-2024 school year.

Parking Lot Closure

A friendly reminder that State Swim will be upon us again tomorrow. We anticipate it will be very crowded on campus and the Cole lot will be closed off. Please plan accordingly when dropping off or picking up students tomorrow. The band room will be closing soon after the conclusion of school (12:04pm).

Spring Concert

Concert band and Symphonic Band students should plan to arrive at the PAC no later than 5:15 for a 5:30 warm up. Orchestra and Wind Symphony students should arrive by 6:10pm. Our concert will begin at 6:30pm and will include all of our instrumentalists in performance. 

Senior Photo Board Collage

One special part of our End of the Year Awards includes Seniors assembling a photo collage. These can be placed in the PAC lobby beginning at 5:30pm. This will be a special time to recognize the accomplishments of those in the music program this year and to honor our seniors one last time. We are asking each senior to create a poster board photo collage (no larger than 24" x 36") that will be displayed at the awards. You can make it as simple or elaborate as you wish. It can include lifetime photos with family and friends or just band photos - whatever you would like. Make sure that your name is somewhere on the front of the poster. We have found that the stiff foam-core boards display on the music stands best but we make poster boards work just fine. The posters should be brought to the concert hall BEFORE the concert so we can set them out for display. We would love to have a poster from every senior. All of the families have such a wonderful time looking at the posters. They create lots of smiles, conversations and reminiscing.

One additional reminder - seniors you must turn in any equipment / instruments / books / other property assigned to you (this includes sound innovations books, and any other printed / published music). Please make sure you are ready to turn these in by Friday May 19th unless you have made other arrangements!

Disneyland Trip June 10

Mr. Chesi plans to finalize Disneyland trip details next week and apologizes for delays in chaperone confirmation. Once the spring concert is complete, we will be in touch. If you were contacted about chaperoning we are planning on your participation. Again, sorry for the delays.

Jazz Performance in Yosemite Friday and Concert Tuesday

Jazz students will have an opportunity tomorrow to play in Yosemite National Park for the San Joaquin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association’s annual Law Day event. Jazz students - plan to arrive at CW no later than 6am, and dress for the weather. If you are a parent of one of these students and would like to join us on this trip, please contact Mr. Chesi at bryanchesi@cusd.com ASAP. There is an opportunity if you are interested.

Jazz students will also be performing Tuesday night at the PAC. Soundcheck for performers is from 5:15-5:45 and the full performance featuring our students as well as the Kastner Jazz Birds and Jazz Band starts at 7pm. This is a great opportunity for other students to gain concert credit if they have not yet done so - remember it is due by the end of the semester!

Pancakes & Performances

The event will take place on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00am – 12:00pm, in the Kastner Intermediate MPR. As always, the morning will be full of great performances and a delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage. We will also hold drawings for fabulous prizes!

Ticket presales have now ended, however tickets will still be available at the door for $12.

PAS Western Region Day of Percussion

All Clovis West Percussion students should plan to attend the PAS Western Region Day of Percussion at Clovis North High School in the PAC on Saturday May 6th. This will be a great educational experience filled with clinics and masterclasses. Percussionists should meet Mr. Malatesta at noon at the PAC following their performances at the Pancake fundraiser. Please plan to attend this event.

If you have not yet done so, please submit your payment if your student is assigned to the trip. Please submit cash or check payments with a clearly marked envelope detailing the student name, what is enclosed, and what it is for (Disneyland). Payments and trip credits can also be accessed through your student charms ledger. We will be contacting those from who we have not yet received payment soon, and potentially moving waitlist students on to the trip. We will also be confirming chaperones in the next couple weeks.

Tickets Now Available - Pancakes & Performances

The event will take place on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00am – 12:00pm, in the Kastner Intermediate MPR. As always, the morning will be full of great performances and a delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage. We will also hold drawings for fabulous prizes!

Students are asked to sell 10 event tickets, which are being distributed this week. Students selling event tickets and returning the funds to the band room mailbox by Thursday, May 4, will receive $4 of trip credit for each ticket sold. Tickets are $10 each if purchased from students. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12.

Disneyland Trip June 10

Disneyland Trip Payments were due Friday 4/14. If you have not yet done so, please submit your payment if your student is assigned to the trip. Please submit cash or check payments with a clearly marked envelope detailing the student name, what is enclosed, and what it is for (Disneyland). Payments and trip credits can also be accessed through your student charms ledger. We will be contacting those from who we have not yet received payment soon, and potentially moving waitlist students on to the trip. We will also be confirming chaperones in the next couple weeks. If you are interested in going on this trip, did not register, and want to be added to the waitlist, contact Mr. Chesi. If you had troubles with charms try again - there have been some adjustments this week, and If you have any other questions or need assistance don’t hesitate to contact a director.

Chocolate Bar Fundraiser Still Active! 

There are still multiple chocolate bar boxes available to check out and sell! Each box can be sold for $60 ($1 per chocolate bar). For each box sold, $15 will be allocated toward trip credit. This is a great way to build trip credit for Disneyland trip payments or upcoming travel in the 2023-2024 school year.
